The FA and United had previously announced that Old Trafford was going to host the opening fixture of the 13th edition of tournament in 2021, however the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has had a knock-on impact on the scheduling of the UEFA national team competition schedule.
Collette Roche, chief operating officer, said:
“Everyone at Manchester United is excited about this opportunity and we remain ready to host the Lionesses during the UEFA Women’s EURO in 2022. We look forward to having discussions with UEFA and the FA to review the planned fixture schedule and reassure them that Old Trafford is ready to play its part in staging one of football’s biggest occasions.
