It says everything about Jude Bellingham that, at the age of 17, he has decided to live and work in a high-pressure environment in a foreign country.
Although many footballers move countries at that age and younger, it is still relatively unusual for British players to do so. Yet such is Bellingham's maturity that he has opted to swap Birmingham for Dortmund, swap English for German, swap familiarity for the unknown.
Manchester United attempted to change his mind – and the fact they gave Bellingham and his parents a tour of the training ground, with Sir Alex Ferguson present, shows how far they were prepared to go – but Bellingham's willingness to broaden his football experience at such a young age is admirable.
