Manchester United have confirmed Michael Carrick as their new captain with the veteran midfielder describing the decision as a 'huge honour'.
The position was vacated by Wayne Rooney as he completed a move to Everton earlier this week, leaving Carrick as the most senior star at Old Trafford.
The 35-year-old midfielder signed for Manchester United in 2006 and has won five Premier League titles, one FA Cup and a Champions League with the club.
'It feels great and it is such a huge honour to captain such a great club,' Carrick told manutd.
