Manchester United 'slap world record £88m price tag on David de Gea' as Real Madrid eye up summer move

Manchester United have told Real Madrid they will have to pay €100million (£88m) if they want to sign their star goalkeeper David de Gea this summer, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

The 27-year-old is the talk of the town after his stunning performance against Sevilla in the Champions League earlier this week, particularly the one-handed save that denied Luis Muriel what looked to be a certain goal.

Having held a long-term interest since their failed move in 2015, Real Madrid appear ready to have another crack at signing De Gea this summer, but have been told they must more than double the current transfer record for a goalkeeper.
