Manchester United safely through to the last 16 of the Europa League as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side play out drab 0-0 draw with Real Sociedad at Old Trafford as Shola Shoretire becomes club's youngest EVER player in Europe

Shola Shoretire became Manchester United’s youngest ever player in Europe, but that was about the only thing of significance at Old Trafford.

The hard work had been done in Turin last week and United duly completed the formalities of securing their place in Friday’s draw for the last 16 of the Europa League.

Shoretire came on as a second-half substitute for Mason Greenwood at the age of 17 years and 23 days, replacing Norman Whiteside who had been at the top of the list for 39 years.

There was little else of note in a scrappy game that produced enough incident but no goals as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side saw off the Spaniards from San Sebastian.
