Manchester United hotel searched by sniffer dogs before derby clash with City as security is tightened

As police tighten security ahead of the Manchester derby, the Lowry Hotel, where United boss Jose Mourinho resides, was searched by two sniffer dogs before the squad joined their manager at the venue for an overnight stay.

It is understood that Wednesday night’s sweep came after talks between the hotel and the club’s security staff following the attack on Borussia Dortmund’s team bus ahead of their home Champions League clash with Monaco.

For the game, armed police officers will be on standby to respond in seconds should there be any incidents.
