Former Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness believes Jose Mourinho has treated Bastian Schweinsteiger 'like a leper' since isolating him from the Manchester United squad.
The German midfielder was brought to Old Trafford amidst much fanfare by Louis van Gaal in 2015 but was unceremoniously thrown out of the first-team by Mourinho.
After failing to seal a move away in the summer transfer window, Schweinsteiger has found himself training in isolation at Carrington and was told in no uncertain terms by the Portuguese coach that he will never play for the Red Devils again.
Hoeness, who saw Schweinsteiger win eight Bundesliga titles and a Champions League with Bayern Munich, says he has been left saddened by the manner in which the career of an 'amazing player' has fallen to such depths.
