Manchester United have reignited their interest in Real Madrid star Toni Kroos following the retirement of Michael Carrick.
The Englishman has drawn a line under 12 years playing for United and now looks set to join the club's coaching staff.
That has left a hole in Jose Mourinho's first-team squad and reports in Spain have suggested that Kroos is the man wanted to fill it.
The 28-year-old has established himself as a vital first-team squad member since his arrival from Bayern Munich in 2014.
And, despite starting only 25 La Liga games this term, Kroos has managed a return of five goals, which is his best in Madrid colours.
