Burnley defender Michael Keane has offered an insight into former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s extraordinary character.
Keane, 24, came through the youth system at Old Trafford when Fergie was in charge of the first team, before he was sold to the Clarets in 2015 during Louis van Gaal’s reign.
During his time as a United youngster he was encouraged to focus on his schoolwork, with some people suggesting he was unlikely to make the grade.
It only made him more determined to succeed and he eventually left college in order to train full-time – unpaid – at United.
