Bonucci was certainly not the player he is now when progressing through the Inter academy, but seeing his rise to prominence in recent years, Mourinho certainly missed a trick not utilising the defender. Bonucci came through the Inter ranks and made his debut under Roberto Mancini in 2006. He never played under Mourinho, though, who loaned him immediately to Treviso and then Pisa after taking charge of Inter. He was 22 when he moved on to Bari in 2009 via a co-ownership agreement with Genoa as part of the deal that saw Diego Milito and Thiago Motta move in the opposite direction.
