Manchester United eyeing up move for Benfica left back Alex Grimaldo

Manchester United are lining up a move for Benfica’s Alex Grimaldo after club scouts watched the former Barcelona left back star and score in a 4-0 win over Feirense on Sunday night.

Grimaldo, 21, has been linked to rivals Manchester City but United had representatives at the Estadio da Luz keeping tabs on the in-demand defender who curled in a brilliant stoppage-time free-kick to seal a comfortable victory in Lisbon.

The Spanish youth international has a huge £51million buy-out clause in his contract but his prospective suitors believe Benfica could be open to a more-reasonable transfer fee.
