Manchester United don't want to be in Europa League, admits Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho admits that Manchester United don’t really want to be in the Europa League and believes it will damage their chances of winning the Premier League title this season.

United find themselves in the group stage of Europe’s secondary competition for the first time, having previously dropped into it under Sir Alex Ferguson and Louis van Gaal after going out of the Champions League.

Mourinho’s side face their opening Europa League tie away to Feyenoord in a half-empty De Kuip Stadium in Rotterdam on Thursday. He conceded that they would rather not be in this position but will try to do their best all the same.
