Manchester United will be without key men Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the rest of the season after confirming they have suffered cruciate knee ligament injuries.
The news is a huge blow to United’s hopes of winning the Europa League and finishing in the top four of the Premier League.
The Swedish star scored 28 goals in his first season in English football while Rojo has established himself as a first-choice centre-back under Jose Mourinho.
In a statement on Saturday the club said: 'Detailed investigations on the injuries sustained by Marcos Rojo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic during Thursday's Europa League match have confirmed significant knee ligament damage in both players that requires specialist opinions over the coming days.
