Phil Jones has hailed Jose Mourinho as 'a manager who truly believes in me' after suffering from a lack of faith under Louis van Gaal that made him consider his Manchester United future.
Centre back Jones, 24, has emerged as a key figure for Mourinho but says he previously had 'thoughts about my future' at Old Trafford.
Jones did not feature for United beyond January 2 of last season and says previous boss Van Gaal was not 'one of three managers who have truly believed in me and understood me as a player'.
Mourinho, though, does rank in that select Jones fan club – alongside Sir Alex Ferguson and his former manager at Blackburn Rovers, Sam Allardyce.
