Chris Smalling believes his loan move to Roma was the right call this summer and believes the stint in Italy will only better his Manchester United career.
The centre back joined the Serie A side at the end of the transfer window following the arrival of Harry Maguire for a fee of £85million at Old Trafford.
Smalling had started the previous season behind Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly but quickly found himself back in the starting line-up.
But although he insists he could have done the same again, he insists the opportunity to prove himself in a foreign league is an even bigger challenge.
