Paul Merson has slammed Manchester United by claiming they will lose their status in world football if their transfer policy is allowed to continue.
The former Arsenal and England forward claimed that United's recent targets have all been 'primark' players, and insisted that the Red Devils should be 'shopping in Harrods' as they strive to strengthen their squad before the end of the window.
Merson's comments come after pursuits of Austrian forward Marko Arnautovic and Juventus' Adrien Rabiot, and Manchester Evening News reported on Friday that the club had also attempted an eleventh hour deal for Chelsea flop Timo Werner.
