Man United 'undergo search for a deputy football director to support John Murtough' ahead of CRUCIAL summer with a new permanent manager and squad improvements their top priorities

Manchester United are reportedly on the hunt for a deputy football director to help ease the workload on chief John Murtough ahead of a crucial summer at Old Trafford.

Murtough, 49, was last year appointed football director for the Red Devils, having previously served as the club's head of football development. Darren Fletcher was also promoted to a technical director position.

As a result, Murtough has taken on a growing range of responsibilities and has been tasked with helping United return to the summit of English football after being usurped by Man City and Liverpool in recent seasons.
