Manchester United's plans for a new Old Trafford have taken another step forward after winning unanimous support from the local authority.
Officials at Trafford council last night unequivocally backed the plans, which could see a new 100,000-capacity stadium at the heart of a vast regeneration programme.
They will now seek a 'top class consultant team' that will be charged with 'helping to shape a high-profile strategic masterplan for the regeneration of the area'.
On Saturday, government voiced their support for the scheme with Chancellor Rachel Reeves describing it as 'a shining example' of their plans to promote economic growth.
