The Reds were edged out by the Spaniards 11-10 in a tense penalty shootout, after the sides battled to a 1-1 draw in a game of few openings during the 120 minutes of regulation play.
Unfortunately, several United players were targeted with abuse on social media following the game in Gdansk – the club utterly condemns this and there is simply no excuse for it.
Skipper Maguire took to Instagram on Thursday morning to call for unity amongst the players, staff and supporters.
He posted the following, alongside an image of him and his fellow Reds collecting their runners-up medals:
