Luke Shaw claimed that previous Manchester United managers have been too lenient with their favourites when picking starting XIs.
The England international has fought his way back into the United team for the last two Premier League matches after initially losing his place to youngster Tyrell Malacia.
Shaw believes Erik ten Hag has more of a ruthless streak - and insisted that the decision to drop him after the humiliating 4-0 defeat at Brentford in August was the correct call.

'I didn't really need him to say anything to me - I knew,' Shaw said.
