Louis van Gaal has revealed that he tried to sign Sadio Mane when he was in charge at Manchester United.
The Senegal forward, who was ruled out of the 2022 World Cup with a knee injury on the eve of the tournament, instead joined Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool in 2016 and went on to become one of the most prolific forwards in the Premier League.
But it seems the Dutch manager missed out on securing a huge coup for Man United, which at the time could have helped the Red Devils push on to emulate the heights they achieved under former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
