The youngster progressed through the youth ranks at West Bromwich Albion and was dual registered with United while playing in the third tier, during the 2023/24 campaign.
That season, Newell’s impressive performances for our national-title-winning Under-21s also earned her the Women’s Academy Players’ Player of the Year award.
Lucy signed her first professional contract with United Women in October 2024, on her 18th birthday.
The prospect has been part of training squads in Malta and Marbella, as she works towards a first-team debut with Marc Skinner's squad.
Newell is set to temporarily join Blackburn Rovers Women in the Championship under manager Simon Parker.
