Jamie Carragher had two big moments on Thursday — first, a meeting with the most expensive defender of all time and, secondly, a brutal demolition of a former on-pitch rival.
The former Liverpool man uploaded a photograph of himself to Instagram alongside Virgil van Dijk, who joined the Anfield club at the start of the transfer window for £75million.
He was clearly excited by the meeting. Carragher revealed he had interviewed the giant Dutch defender for Sky Sports at the Melwood training ground.
But a comment from ex-Manchester United man Phil Neville could have dampened his spirits.
