Liverpool fans get perfect view of James Milner penalty as Spidercam is used for first time in Premier League for clash with Old Trafford

James Milner's perfect penalty to put Liverpool in front against Manchester United was the first Premier League goal to be captured by Spidercam.

As Sportsmail exclusively revealed last week, a camera suspended by four wires above the pitch was used by Sky Sports in their Sunday coverage of the game.

It was called into action after 27 minutes when Paul Pogba handled a Liverpool corner, and lined up behind Milner as he tucked his spot kick past David De Gea.

The perfect angle - higher than the usual penalty angle and giving a much clearer view of the goal - immediately gained the approval of fans watching on TV.
