Jose Mourinho has revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson has attended Manchester United's Carrington training ground several times this season, and says he is 'more than welcome' to make more visits.
The 74-year-old is a director at the club but had stayed away from the AON Training Complex since retiring as United's manager in 2013, after his 13th Premier League title.
Ferguson spent 26 years in charge at the club, but has often watched on frustrated from from the stands over the past three years as United have failed to replicate the feats achieved under him.
But Mourinho would like the club's most successful manager to have a greater presence both in the dressing room and at the training ground to help inspire the current crop, who remain 13 points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
