Jose Mourinho believed his meeting with Ed Woodward last Tuesday was to discuss transfer strategy but instead he was sacked as Manchester United manager, it has been claimed.
The United boss went into the scheduled Tuesday morning meeting with the club's executive vice-chairman still hoping to talk about potential January transfer targets, according to The Sunday Times
Instead he was caught unawares when Woodward used it to communicate the United board's decision to relieve him of his duties.



Mourinho knew his reign was coming to an end within hours of losing to Liverpool last Sunday.
