Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has admitted he was once fooled into believing he was a target for Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
Writing in his new autobiography, the 34-year-old, who was suspended last week following a training ground altercation, mistakenly believed he could be on his way to Old Trafford in 2011.
Barton was driving with agent Willie McKay, heading to seal a move to Queens Park Rangers, when he noticed the words 'Sir Alex' pop up on McKay's phone.
