Jamie Carragher has revealed he exchanged messages with Harry Maguire to offer his support when the England defender was arrested in Greece last summer.
Maguire was given a suspended sentence of 21 months and 10 days after he was found guilty of repeated bodily harm, attempted bribery, violence against public employees and insult after arrest.
While his legal team appealed the verdict, a backlog in the country's judicial system means a significant delay is expected.
The defender was withdrawn from England's squad in the aftermath of the incident, and Carragher contacted Maguire to offer his support during a troubling time for the Manchester United man.
