Inter Milan chief Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed he wants to sign Alexis Sanchez from Manchester United but the Chilean's wages are a major obstacle.
Sanchez has rediscovered his best form in the latter stages of his loan at Inter with three goals and seven assists in the last eight games.
The 31-year-old winger is due back at United on August 7 with nearly two years left on a contract that is worth up to £560,000-a-week including £300,000 in basic salary and image rights of £100,000.
Inter have been contributing around £150,000-a-week to Sanchez's wages and want to sign him permanently, but only if the player takes a pay cut and United lower their demand for a transfer fee of £18million.
