The 23-year-old forward recently came back from a period of absence for the Reds, as a substitute in the Premier League match against Arsenal on 10 March, before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer selected him to start in last Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup quarter-final tie at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Martial was expected to play in France’s Euro 2020 qualifying matches against Moldova and Iceland, but he has now been replaced in Didier Deschamps' group by Atletico Madrid winger Thomas Lemar.
An official FFF statement read:
“Anthony Martial is suffering from recurring problems in the right knee. He again felt severe pain in his right knee after Saturday's match against Wolverhampton.
