Claudio Marchisio told Paul Pogba to turn down Manchester United and join Real Madrid or Barcelona when the Red Devils came calling for him in 2016.
The Italian became close to Pogba during their time together in Juventus' midfield and was on hand to offer advice when Jose Mourinho made his move, eventually bringing the Frenchman back to Old Trafford in an £89million deal.
But instead of backing Pogba's preferred option, Marchisio warned him about the problems he could face by returning to England and his former club.
Asked about the prospect of Pogba rejoining Juve this summer, Marchisio told Tuttosport: 'I would be very happy.
