Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Benfica centre-back Victor Lindelof, with a £42 million move to be finalised in January.
The Red Devils will pay £37m up front, with Jose Mourinho signing off on the arrival of the highly-rated Swedish international.
One of the most in-demand defenders in European football, 22-year-old Lindelof only broke through at the Estadio da Luz at the beginning of this year.
However, he has established himself at the top of the game since then - missing just two league matches since January and playing at Euro 2016 - and it is hard to imagine him being anything other than a starter at Old Trafford.
