'I saved one penalty out of 25!' Bruno Fernandes' penalty technique makes them 'almost impossible' to save in training, says third-choice Manchester United goalkeeper Lee Grant

Manchester United's back-up goalkeeper Lee Grant admits he finds it 'almost impossible' to save Bruno Fernandes' penalties in training due to his unusual technique.

Third-choice keeper Grant, who last played for the first-team in November 2019, is behind David de Gea and Dean Henderson in the pecking order at Old Trafford but still trains with the squad every week.

And the ex-Burnley shot-stopper, 38, described how difficult it is to read a Fernandes spot-kick due to his stuttered run-up, with the Portuguese having scored seven in all competitions this season.

United third-choice keeper Lee Grant says Fernandes' technique make them very hard to read

'Usually, I'm already forming an opinion about where the penalty-taker is going to put the ball after the first or second step of their run-up,' Grant told The Athletic.
