The second-tier leaders came from behind on Saturday to defeat Middlesbrough, managed by United legend Michael Carrick, 3-1 at Turf Moor.
A strike early in the second half from Boro’s Duncan Watmore had put Carrick’s visitors ahead, but three goals in 12 minutes – two from Manuel Benson and a Jonny Howson own goal – ensured that the Clarets took all three points ahead of Wednesday’s trip to United.
Full-back Connor Roberts – who has recently returned from representing Wales at the World Cup – will miss the midweek clash however, after he was shown a red card having been judged to handle the ball on the goal line, late on.
