Goal of the Day: Butt slays Leeds

Background: Nearly four months into 1998/99 and United’s season is really getting warmed up. After a thrilling 3-3 draw in the Nou Camp against Barcelona (the second time the Reds had divvied up six goals with the Catalans), something special appears to be brewing in the Champions League, while, in the Premier League, United are on the coat-tails of leaders Aston Villa as Leeds visit Old Trafford…

The goal: With under 15 minutes left, it looks as though Alex Ferguson’s men might drop two crucial home points. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink had opened the scoring for Leeds before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Roy Keane struck either side of half-time to put the Reds ahead.
