Gareth Southgate has defended Harry Maguire but admitted the Manchester United star faces competition for his place in the England team.
Maguire endured a difficult campaign at Old Trafford last season as Erik ten Hag put his stamp on the club after taking charge in May 2022.
After making at least 30 Premier League appearances in all of his first three seasons at United, Maguire played just 16 times in the league last season, starting only half of those.
The 30-year-old was also stripped of the captaincy this summer, with Ten Hag instead selecting Bruno Fernandes to lead the side next season.
