'Fantastic' Luke Shaw has talent to rescue Manchester United career if he keeps working hard, says Denis Irwin

Luke Shaw was 'fantastic' before being dropped at Manchester United, according to Denis Irwin.

Jose Mourinho has started Shaw just once in the Premier League after publicly scolding the left back for his role in a defeat at Watford in September.

And Shaw's only competitive minutes since November came in the FA Cup against Wigan in January, with his future under Mourinho uncertain.

But Irwin - the left back who spent 12 years at Old Trafford and was part of the 1999 Treble-winning side - has backed the England international to win his spot back.
