Manchester United and England have been handed an injury blow with Ella Toone ruled out for six weeks with a calf tear.
The forward, who has been a mainstay for club and country, suffered the injury in training on Friday and was forced to sit out United’s game with Leicester on Sunday afternoon.
Mail Sport understands the injury will keep Toone out until the New Year, meaning she will miss key games for United and England.
Marc Skinner’s side are due to face top-of-the-table Chelsea next weekend while the Lionesses take on the United States and Switzerland in friendlies in the coming weeks.
