Ex-Man United target Jurrien Timber claims 'a transfer is getting closer and closer' as the Ajax defender says he 'wants to take the step to move abroad'... after insisting he stayed with his boyhood club 'out of love'

Ajax ace Jurrien Timber has once again hinted that a move away from the Eredivisie may be forthcoming as he admits that 'a transfer is coming closer and closer'.

The Dutch defender was previously linked with a move to Manchester United upon the appointment of his former manager Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

But after a string of discussions during last summer's transfer window, talks between the two parties fell through and Timber made the decision to stay at his boyhood club.

The 21-year-old previously teased the possibility of moving a year later in March, stating that 'you never know what crosses your path', but has brought up the subject in a second interview as the window's opening draws closer.
