Erik ten Hag says it is unfair that the 'spotlight' is on Cristiano Ronaldo for leaving Man United's friendly against Rayo Vallecano early... but admits he is unsure whether the forward will play against Brighton

Erik ten Hag says it is unfair on Cristiano Ronaldo to face the brunt of the criticism for leaving early during Manchester United's friendly against Rayo Vallecano last weekend.

The wantaway forward started the game at Old Trafford - his first appearance since asking to leave the club - but was substituted at half-time. He, along with other members of the squad, were then seen exiting Old Trafford 10 minutes before the final whistle.

Ten Hag branded the behaviour as 'unacceptable' in an interview with Dutch television after the game, but says that the focus should not be on Ronaldo.
