Edinson Cavani has been slapped with a two-game international ban for his horror tackle on Richarlison during Uruguay's defeat by Brazil last November.

The Manchester United striker has had to wait months to find out what punishment he would face and it was ruled that the nasty stamp warranted two games on the sidelines.

In the 71st minute of the World Cup qualifier, Cavani chased Richarlison from behind and put his foot in to try and stab the ball free.

Edinson Cavani was furious with the red card and he has now been banned for two games
Cavani was initially shown a yellow card after catching Richarlison with his studs
It was then upgraded to a red card when the referee checked the pitchside monitor
