Ed Woodward 'will choose Manchester United's chief executive' before he leaves his post at Old Trafford.
United's executive vice-chairman will step down from his role at the end of this year with the announcement brought forward to this week.
It came amid the furious backlash to the breakaway European Super League, which United had signed up to before withdrawing along with the five other English clubs involved on Tuesday night.
But as Woodward prepared to leave United after 16 years, the Manchester Evening News report that he will choose who succeeds him.
