England boss Sarina Wiegman made two changes from the side which scraped past Haiti by the same scoreline in their opening match and both players who came in made an instant impact. Makeshift left-back Rachel Daly freed former United forward Lauren James, who curled in a sensational strike from 20 yards, in just the sixth minute.
United’s Ella Toone, starting for the second successive game, played well in a midfield three and linked up well with James, in particular, throughout, before being replaced by Lauren Hemp in the 76th minute. Toone, wearing no.10 for her country, had a shot saved by Denmark keeper Lyne Christensen in the first half and hooked an effort over the bar from inside the box shortly after the break.
