Derby enter administration! Struggling Rams hit with 12-point deduction (that could become 21)

Derby County have formally entered into administration on Wednesday as the financial crisis engulfing the Championship club continues.

The second-tier strugglers, managed by former England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, will be automatically deducted 12 points under EFL rules, sending them to the bottom of the table.

They still face the threat of an additional points deduction as a penalty from the EFL relating to irregularities in the club's accounts. Sportsmail revealed last week that this is expected to be nine points.

Andrew Hosking, Quantuma managing director and joint administrator, revealed in a statement on the club's website following the news: 'I can confirm that Andrew Andronikou, Carl Jackson and I were appointed joint administrators of Derby County Football Club today.
