Ronaldo, 37, had endured his most barren spell in nearly 12 years, having failed to score in six consecutive games, with United desperate for the Portuguese to find the net.
Prior to Tuesday's visit of the Seagulls, the Red Devils had failed to win in three games and were desperate to find form with the race for Champions League football heating up.
