The Class of 92’s plan to upgrade Salford City’s ground to Football League standard has been approved despite a raft of objections.
Owners Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs attended a local planning meeting on Thursday, with the former handed a bin bag of litter by a disgruntled objector.
Salford believe demolishing their existing ground and building a new stadium holding 5,000 will allow them to achieve their goal of reaching the Football League.
Moor Lane currently houses just over 2,000 and the new development would be capable of hosting League One fixtures should their rise through the divisions eventually continue to that level.
