Manchester United have been told £65million could buy Mason Mount after having a £50m bid rejected on Wednesday.
United offered £45m plus £5m in bonuses and, as expected, Chelsea rejected that offer but countered with a request for £60m plus £5m in bonuses.
United are still unsure of what their optimum bid can be as they wait for the club takeover while also wanting a top striker and a goalkeeper such as Inter Milan’s Andre Onana.
United have also retained interest in Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot after a bid for the France international faltered in January.
