Brighton interested in Manchester United outcast Sergio Romero after telling goalkeeper Mat Ryan he is free to leave the Amex

Brighton have shown an interest in Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero should Mat Ryan depart.

Ryan has been displaced in Graham Potter's side by Robert Sanchez since the draw at Fulham earlier in December and has been told he is free to find a new club.

Argentine shot stopper Romero meanwhile has not made any matchday squad this season, with Dean Henderson replacing him as United's No 2 after two seasons on loan at Sheffield United.

And six months after his hopes of joining Everton were dashed when United demanded a fee before a move to David Beckham's Inter Miami also fell through, Romero is now of interest to the Seagulls should Australian Ryan move on.
