He is a precocious talent
At just 17-year-old, Gimenez made his debut in the Uruguayan league for Danubio in 2012. Ever the shrewd operators, Atletico Madrid snapped him up for a bargain -- believed to be in the region of €1 million -- in 2013.
Of course, convincing him to move to the Spanish capital with the promise of playing alongside his idol Diego Godin and following in the footsteps of national hero Diego Forlan meant it was not a difficult process.
