Andre Onana will miss Manchester United’s clash with Newcastle today after being taken out of the firing line by head coach Ruben Amorim.
The Cameroon goalkeeper was left at home when United travelled to Tyneside on Saturday with deputy Altay Bayindir set to make his Premier League debut at St James’ Park.
Onana was blamed for both Lyon’s goals when United were held to a Europa League draw in France in midweek, but is likely to be recalled for Thursday’s second leg at Old Trafford.
Although Amorim gave Onana a vote of confidence, it’s understood the United boss wants the 29-year-old to clear his head after a difficult night at the Groupama Stadium and recent off-the-field issues.
